摘要: After an introduction by Mr. Furtado (Brazil), Peters (Great Britain) pointed out that four main species of leishmania, L. tropica, braziliensis, mexicana and donovani their subspecies, are responsible for different clinical manifestations the disease in geographically limited areas. The histological electron-microscopic morphology parasite culture phagocytes, reported Klingmuller (FR Germany) do not permit differentiation subspecies. For this, biochemical immunological characterization is necessary. best practicable method to distinguish subspecies seems be isolation strains isoenzyme patterns. To parasites should sent one several WHO international reference centres. may performed with monoclonal antibodies, using a radioimmune binding assay. data mainly support established classification New World Leishmania complex respective
