摘要: The Pilbara is a remote arid region with significant Aboriginal population, rich mineral resources and rapid rates of resource development. people claim deep ongoing connections to the land water-scapes area value water sources features for range socio-cultural, economic environmental reasons. Those have come under increasing pressure from new phase development in mining sector so strong interest long-term sustainability this activity. We outline research generated through an agreement between CSIRO major company which fieldwork interviews were combined first peer-reviewed synthesis diverse scattered literature describing people's interests area. paper describes contextualises peoples' relationships water, highlighting its significance as part creative legacy ancestral beings, elemental life, reflective constitutive group individual identity by relating across time space, key focus concerns about effects scale use pressures depth feeling among traditional owners residents emphasise need greater allocations engagement those involved mine management regional planning, well advocacy research.
