Fluctuating Membranes with Tilt Order

摘要: Thermal fluctuations are important for amphiphilic bilayer membranes since typical bending stiffnesses can be a few k B T. The rod-like constituent molecules generically tilted with respect to the local normal packing reasons. We study effects of on nematic order, simplified idealization same novel features as realistic tilt order. find that lie in universality class hexatic membranes, i.e. couplings distinguish from order marginally irrelevant. Our calculation also illustrates advantages conformal gauge, which brings great conceptual and technical simplifications compared more popular Monge gauge.
