摘要: Summary The islets of Langerhans are dynamic structures that can change in size, number cells, and molecular function response to physiological pathological stress. Molecular cues originating from the surrounding “peri-islet” acinar cells could facilitate this plasticity have not been explored. Here, we combine single-molecule transcript imaging intact pancreas transcriptomics identify spatial heterogeneity cell gene expression. We find peri-islet exhibit a distinct signature db/db diabetic mice includes upregulation trypsin family genes elevated mTOR activity. This zonated expression program seems be induced by CCK is secreted islet cells. Elevated secretion expansion observed model via modulation capsule matrix components. Our study highlights axis communication between pancreatic exocrine endocrine compartments may relevant expansion.
