摘要: For dams and reservoirs, the assessment of basin watertightness relies on identification structural weaknesses. Conventional site investigations can readily be complimented by carrying out radon emanation studies, relying unique properties this radioactive noble gas, easier transmission via fractured, faulted porous rock zones. Recent studies for an abstraction weir supplemented conventional ground with to confirm locality a suspected fault zone which traverses founding bedrock. The successful location weakness, hidden beneath 20–30 m alluvium, allowed optimal monitoring boreholes; proving value technique in such studies.
