摘要: A study on water quality and aquatic insects has been conducted at the Lower Kinabatangan River Catchment, Sabah, Malaysia. The of surface insects’ composition were studied in streams near to oil palm plantation (OP), secondary forest (SF) oxbow lake (OB). also aims identify seasonal variation insects’ during weak La Nina event. total 135 samples 1678 insect individuals (four orders 14 families) collected fieldwork campaign that spanned over inter-monsoonal period, wet dry seasons between October 2004 June 2005. OP highest abundance particularly during season. Biological indices showed all stations moderate category. index (WQI) was calculated indicated river categorised into Class II. Discriminant analysis (DA) employed classify independent variables mutually-exclusive groups. Suspended sediment (SS) chemical oxygen demand (COD) high wet could be a strong reason behind low insects. Precipitation anomalies found affect variations River.
