摘要: Background Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in adults Argentina. Sodium reduction policies targeting processed foods were implemented 2011 Argentina, but impact has not been evaluated. The aims this study are to use Argentina-specific data on sodium excretion and project Argentina’s under two scenarios - 2-year intervention currently being undertaken or a more persistent 10 year strategy. Methods We used by sex projected current strategy consumption blood pressure decrease. assessed CVD using Disease Policy Model, adapted modeling alternative policy over next decade. Results Our finds that initiative reduce place Argentina will have substantial years. Under proposed reduction, mean decrease 319–387 mg/day. This expected translate into an absolute systolic from 0.93 mmHg 1.81 mmHg. would avert about 19,000 all-cause mortality, 13,000 total myocardial infarctions, 10,000 strokes A yield even greater benefits. Conclusion Argentinean be effective substantially reducing mortality morbidity CVD. paper provides evidence-based support continue implementing strategies at population level.
