摘要: Abstract The objective of the present study was to investigate how meanings place were constructed shape contrasting positions in a gold mining conflict Greece, and implications these dynamics for place-attachment. A social divide has gradually deepened area, separating employees company, on one side, from residents involved agriculture, forestry, fishing, tourism, other. Local people engaged interviewed interview data analysed frame discursive positioning respondents, order follow place-based referents voiced. Acts might be approached as acts “fencing”, namely designating specific areas assigning significations or projects them. These followed by counter-acts “de-fencing”, namely, challenging attempted opposing side. Implications future research are discussed.
