摘要: To describe consumers' perceptions of genetic counseling services in the context direct-to-consumer personal genomic testing is purpose this research. Utilizing data from Scripps Genomic Health Initiative, we assessed test utilization and services. At long-term follow-up, approximately 14 months post-testing, participants were asked to respond several items gauging their interactions, if any, with a Navigenics counselor, those interactions. Out 1325 individuals who completed 187 (14.1%) indicated that they had spoken counselor. The most commonly given reason for not utilizing service was lack need due perception already understanding one's results (55.6%). common reasons included wanting take advantage free (43.9%) more information on risk calculations (42.2%). Among utilized service, large fraction reported improved (54.5%) genetics general (43.9%). A relatively small proportion after testing. did utilize however, perceived it be informative, thus presumably beneficial.
