Mediating role of access to finance and moderating role of business environment on the relationship between strategic orientation attributes and performance of small and medium enterprises in Nigeria

摘要: The main objective of this study is to examine the mediating role access on finance and moderating business environment relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO), market (MO), learning (LO), technology (TO) performance Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. Data were collected from SMEs operating North Western Nigeria using a cross-sectional design. adopted cluster sampling randomly selected 522 respondents questionnaires distributed through personally-administered method. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used test hypotheses. This finds that EO, LO TO are important strategic orientations for findings reveal SMEs’ depends degree MO, TO enterprise. It expected EO would improve firm’s accessibility finance, but finding does not support expectation as negatively influences firm performance. Interestingly, results further show with better influence Furthermore, have significant paths performance, MO performance. The provide insights owner-managers, policy-makers and researchers understand effects firm performance. Owner-mangers should emphasize TO; however, it note over-concentration may result lower financing. Policy-makers encourage their cash flow, profit retained earnings which financial institutions them services. Lastly, limitations current avenues for future research are discussed
