Applications of ground penetrating radar in the Medway Tunnel - inspection of structural joints

摘要: This paper reports on the applications of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) in structural detailing a major tunnel under River Medway north Kent, UK. Construction was completed 1996 and it carries substantial volume traffic between two areas Medway. The construction is an "immersed tube" type that connects number segments at immersion joint points. investigation use 2 GHz GPR antenna system establishing details roof joints. processed data compiled as result this provided much needed information to engineers for forthcoming maintenance planning purposes. It also ample confirming rather doubted design drawings/plans originally produced. reported results are conclusive terms materials used (information not available confirmation) well required formation presentation complemented by providing detailed complex process adopting systems endeavour.
