摘要: Immunosuppression after measles is known to predispose people opportunistic infections for a period of several weeks months. Using population-level data, we show that has more prolonged effect on host resistance, extending over 2 3 years. We find nonmeasles infectious disease mortality in high-income countries tightly coupled incidence at this lag, both the pre- and post-vaccine eras. conclude long-term immunologic sequelae drive interannual fluctuations deaths. This consistent with recent experimental work attributes immunosuppressive effects depletion B T lymphocytes. Our data provide an explanation benefits vaccination preventing all-cause disease. By measles-associated immune memory loss, protects polymicrobial herd immunity.
