摘要: Traditionally, the therapeutic approach to treatment-resistant depression (TRD) has relied on pharmacotherapy in various sequences and combinations, addition evidence-based psychotherapy or electroconvulsive therapy. Despite refinements existing modalities, there remains a significant subpopulation of severely ill patients with refractory mood disorders who fail achieve clinical response despite aggressive psychosocial biological treatments. Interest use deep brain stimulation (DBS) for psychiatric illness emerged recent years number reasons: 1) as part general re-evaluation both noninvasive invasive techniques, 2) because demonstrated efficacy DBS movement disorders, 3) logical consequence studies defining functional neurocircuitry several disorders. This review will examine progress treatment Parkinson's disease potential implications its TRD, well role psychiatrist selection ongoing management receive this procedure.
