摘要: Given the harsh operating conditions in hydrogen/oxygen fuel cells, stability of catalysts is one critical questions affecting their commercialization. We describe a distinct class oxygen reduction (ORR) core–shell electrocatalysts comprised nitride metal cores enclosed by thin Pt shells that easily synthesized. The synthesis reproducible and amenable to scale up. Our theoretical analysis experimental data indicate nanoparticle could significantly enhance ORR activity as well durability consequence combined geometrical, electronic segregation effects on shells. In addition its cells application, this holds promise contribute resolving problem platinum scarcity furthermore indicates guidelines for future research development. Published Elsevier Ltd.
