Market diffusion, technological learning, and cost-benefit dynamics of condensing gas boilers in the Netherlands

摘要: High costs often prevent the market diffusion of novel and efficient energy technologies. Monitoring cost price decline for these technologies is thus important in order to establish effective policy. Here, we present experience curves cost-benefit analyses condensing gas boilers produced sold Netherlands between 1981 2006. For most dominant boiler type on Dutch market, i.e., combi boilers, identify learning rates 14±1% average 16±8% additional relative non-condensing devices. Economies scale, competitive sourcing components, improvements assembly are among main drivers behind observed decline. The net value shows an overall increasing trend. Purchasing 2006 a this instead device generates 970 EUR (Euro) realizes CO2 (carbon dioxide) emission savings at negative −120 per tonne CO2. We attribute two-thirds performance technological one-third combination external effects governmental policies.
