摘要: AbstractChallenges to the reliability of scientific evidence are increasingly common. Where DNA is concerned, this distrust has been most often associated with problems in forensic laboratories such as inconsistent quality standards, cross-contamination, sample mix-ups and even falsification results. Yet, recent emphasis on analysis low quantity samples — referred to, variably, degraded, copy number (LCN) or trace reoriented theoretical analytical attention ‘visual’ privileged source knowledge discriminate these otherwise undetectable ‘non-conformities’. Paradoxically, uncertainty rendered through visual profile emerges a result technological innovation purporting improve results by increasing sensitivity detection. This study traces it exemplified ambiguous constructs produced laboratory, translation into statistical probabilities, subsequent cont...
