Relationships between oral diseases and impacts on Thai schoolchildren's quality of life: Evidence from a Thai national oral health survey of 12- and 15-year-olds

Methods: The study was part ThailandNational Health Survey. Data using WHO criteria andOHRQoL Child-Oral Impacts Daily Performances (Child-OIDP)for 12-year-olds (OIDP) indexes for15-year-olds were collected 1063 811 15-year-olds. Theassociations OHRQoL perceived dental need wereinvestigated logistic regression models. Results: Of 81.7% 12-year-oldsand 83.2% 15-year-olds had OHRQoL. For both age groups,gingivitis most common (79.3% 12-year-olds, 81.5% in15-year-olds). significantly associated with high levels ofuntreated decay. Perceived needs withuntreated decay extensive gingivitis for groups, calculusfor 12-year-olds. Having decayed teeth statistically impactson relaxing, emotion groups. Gingivitis calculuswere smiling, social contactin smiling Conclusions:Gingivitis whereas caries affectedchildren’s most. Dental impacted various daily lifeperformances while calculus related to psychosocial aspects in12-year-olds.
