摘要: There is a long tradition of assessing the activity and progress taxonomy with quantitative indicators, such as, for example, number taxonomists, species described collected. These evaluations play key role in context worldwide concern over biodiversity its governance. We have analysed these since 1992, year which Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) was adopted. showed that despite establishment dedicated body inside CBD (the Global Taxonomy Initiative), are mostly sporadic independent initiatives, performed by non-taxonomists. They do not map places where most taxonomic activities take place, they small scales, scarce heterogeneous sources data, making comparisons almost impossible. Most indicators use refer to description. argue there need rethink way we evaluate today discuss why it urgent move beyond suggest new set would focus resources dynamics, instead outputs.
