South American monsoon indices

摘要: Four monsoon indices (the meridional wind shear index (MWSI), the zonal (ZWSI), 850-hPa (850ZWI) and (UVI)) based on characteristics of circulation are used to identify onset demise dates intraseasonal variability rainy season over west central Brazil (WCB) region. All four-index time series have a high correlation with precipitation WCB. The UVI, MWSI 850ZWI represent very well (break active periods) WCB is also useful for identifying dates.
