摘要: Tertiary sediments were deposited extensively on the Cretaceous east of Lebombo Mountains across coastal plain Zululand and southern Mozambique. These are mainly shallow marine or estuarine with thin transgressive, regressive, continental phases. Minor deposits oldest (Eocene) remain in part area; more extensive preservation is found north. Oligocene has not been identified lower Miocene limited distribution. Most middle to late early Pliocene age. The reach a thickness 300 ft along coast Mountains. sequence land thickens northeastward from Lourenco Marques about 4,400 near Morrumbene. almost horizontal attitude base implies practically no seaward tilting that these form cover narrow shelf between Umfolosi River mouth Marques.
