摘要: Background Long-term employment trajectories of young problem drinkers are poorly understood. Methods We constructed retrospective labour market participation histories at ages 18–34 64 342 persons born in 1969–1982. Beginning from the year each subject’s 18th birthday, we extracted information records Statistics Finland on educational attainment, main type economic activity, months employment, and unemployment for a minimum seven years (range 7–16 years). We used timing alcohol-related hospitalizations deaths same period to define with early onset limited course, persistent late drinking. Results Early course improved their considerably by age, whereas experienced constant decline age. From age 18 34, were merely 12% time, comparison 39% among drinkers, 58% general population. Conclusions These results indicate that adults who retrospectively defined as having drinking extensively marginalized during life trajectory was significantly worse compared other drinkers.
