摘要: We report contributions to cosmic infrared background (CIB) intensities originating from known galaxies and their faint companions at submillimeter wavelengths. Using the publicly available UltraVISTA catalog maps 250, 350, 500 μm Herschel Multi-tiered Extragalactic Survey, we perform a novel measurement that exploits fact uncataloged sources may bias stacked flux densities—particularly if resolution of image is poor—and intentionally smooth images before stacking summing intensities. By smoothing are capturing contribution (undetected in K_S ~ 23.4) physically associated, or correlated, with detected sources. find cumulative CIB increases increased smoothing, reaching 9.82 ± 0.78, 5.77 0.43 2.32 0.19 nWm^(-2) sr^(-1) 300 arscec FWHM. This corresponds fraction fiducial 0.94 0.23, 1.07 0.31, 0.97 0.26 μm, where uncertainties dominated by those absolute CIB. then propose, simple model combining parametric descriptions for densities stellar mass functions, emission log(M/M⊙) > 8.5 can account most measured total argue against extended, diffuse emission. Finally, discuss prospects future survey instruments improve estimates levels, observe any potentially remaining z 4.
