摘要: One hundred and sixty seven consecutive patients with esophageal carcinoma (squamous cell carcinoma: n = 108, adenocarcinoma: 59) who underwent surgery were preoperatively examined by endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), the results compared intraoperative exploration histopathological evaluation of resection specimens. The T N stage correctly determined EUS in 86% 73%, respectively. assessment for cases traversable (n 124) versus non-traversable 43) tumor stenoses was 85% 70%, Prediction resectability (89%) correct adenocarcinoma (82% actual R0 rate), but not squamous cancer (64%). This due to high incidence submucosal microscopic spread detectable on EUS. We consider an indispensable diagnostic tool local staging since it provides important information resectability, aids therapeutic decisions determining prognosis. Our comparably low rate primary (66%) 95% are exact preoperative
