摘要: We reconstruct the 3-D microstructure of centimetre-sized olivine crystals in rocks from Almirez ultramafic massif (SE Spain) using combined X-ray micro computed tomography (μ-CT) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). The semidestructive sample treatment involves geographically oriented drill pressing preparation thin sections for EBSD μ-CT scanned cores. results show that mean intercept length (MIL) analyses provide reliable information on shape preferred orientation (SPO) texturally different groups. statistical interpretation crystal (CPO) SPO becomes feasible because highest densities distribution main axes are aligned with three ellipsoid calculated MIL μ-CT. From data we distinguish multiple CPO groups by locating within volume, assign to corresponding aggregates, which confirm comparison. demonstrate limitations both methods (i.e. no spatial EBSD) can be overcome, crystallographic olivines successfully correlated shapes representative grains. Through this approach one establish link among geological structures, macrostructure, fabric SPO-CPO relationship at hand specimen scale even complex, coarse-grained geomaterials.
