摘要: A pictorial review and brief description of metabasites (mainly eclogites) exposed in the western part Himalaya, north Pakistan are presented. The occur Kaghan Neelum valleys form thick sheets, dikes, lenses, zoned bodies. On basis petrography mineral paragenesis, they can be distinguished into greenschist, amphibolites, garnet-amphibolites, eclogites, amphibolitized garnetites. In this review, first a history term eclogite its origin for understanding process formation is Then, on occurrence various metabasites/eclogites outcrops Himalaya given. Later, detailed petrological textural features observed hand specimen under microscope discussed individual rock types. Finally, an overview Himalayan tracing back from their magmatic basaltic source to transformation amphibolites eclogites via multi-stage metamorphism provided. field features, with aid geochemical evidence these metabasites, help constrain tectono-metamorphic evolution continent–continent collision type orogenic belts such as India–Asia collision-related metamorphic belt.
