摘要: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a clinical entity induced by invasion, colonization and multiplication of bacteria in the urinary which overpass de host defensive mechanisms, could be expression functional or morphological disorders. UTI frequent cause morbidity affects 5 - 11% pediatric patients it first documented nephrological consultation Venezuela. The frequency recurrence 15-20% children under 1 year age after episode UTI, risk higher with previous episodes. Pathogenesis includes 3 related factors: pathogenic germ, environment factors. Early detection adequate study patient are important clues for prevention renal damage progression to chronic disease. Important factors development are: febrile anatomical obstructive uropathy, vesicoureteral reflux dilatation tract, delay initiation antibiotic treatment presence E. Coli. diagnosis based on manifestations vary gender, not urological and/or neurological Alterations urine analysis suggest but definitive test culture, should performed previously therapy; etiological made significative growth urine. less invasive method collect sample clean catch perineal asepsis. number colonies/ml required consider culture as positive according collection method.
