摘要: The objective of this study was to increase efficacy treatment with the dopamine agonist, cabergoline, for inducing abortion in cats by combining it a synthetic PGF2 alpha analogue, cloprostenol. Side effects cloprostenol were avoided using low doses. An oral formulation cabergoline chosen facilitate administration. Cabergoline given daily (5 micrograms kg-1 day-1) while s.c. injections administered every 2 days kg-1) (2 days)-1). Plasma concentrations progesterone, side and pregnancy outcome compared those five untreated pregnant queens. from day 30 after first mating queens confirmed as lasted mean 11 +/- 1 days. All treated animals aborted 9 without any effect, except mild haemorrhagic vulvar discharge. Subsequent fertility not compromised. Abortion mediated an abrupt constant decrease plasma progesterone. Progesterone lower than ng ml-1 38 onwards all remained at value thereafter, one queen which showed further progesterone concentration 44 clinical consequence. In conclusion, combination administration appears be reliable, safe practical method terminating pregnancy, when diagnosis palpation or ultrasonography can easily made.
