摘要: In this study, we distributed surveys to 67 families of young boys with fragile X syndrome determine the prevalence, onset, form, function, location, and correlates self-injurious behavior. Fifty-five were completed (82%). The mean age at time survey was 80 months (range = 20-144). Self-injurious behavior (SIB) reported for 58% participants a onset 31 months. number forms self-injury 2 per participant. Biting most commonly form fingers back hand disproportionately targeted as prevalent body site. There no linear increase in risk SIB past 25 likely occur following presentation difficult task demands or changes routine. Significant group differences found between overall ratings problem compared those without self-injury. Groups did not differ on measures mental retardation protein (FMRP), autism status, adaptive behavior, first medicated. Results are discussed terms future research designed further elucidate behavioral phenotype syndrome.
