Current characteristics of infective endocarditis in Japan: an analysis of 848 cases in 2000 and 2001

摘要: The Japanese Circulation Society appointed a committee to develop guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and management of infective endocarditis in Japan. In making such guidelines, required information on current clinical characteristics therefore performed nationwide questionnaire survey cases from 2000 2001. total, data were received 848 277 817 hospitals surveyed. Mean age was 55+/-18 years most patients aged their 50 s or 60 s; 53.9% had unknown origin (without any prior predisposing conditions procedures) second common etiology post dental procedures. microorganism Gram-positive cocci (345 streptococci 221 staphylococci) methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) found 7.3%.
