摘要: The Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at the Johns Hopkins University strives to create a workforce that represents racial, ethnic, sex diversity U.S. society. To end, division has developed summer program for underrepresented minority first-year medical students expose them geriatric medicine research. ultimate aim this initiative is recruit academic medicine, specifically where they are drastically underrepresented. Nineteen participated in from 2002 2004. participants have continued on win seven other research fellowships, participate National Institute Aging Technical Assistance Workshop, present four national conferences, including American Geriatrics Society conference Gerontological America meeting. One students, who completing school May 2005, returning begin internal residency Bayview, majority faculty practice medicine. Another student also graduating obtaining her Masters Public Health with concentration epidemiology Bloomberg School before starting residency. This article describes outcomes first 3 years program, an emphasis curriculum development recruitment retention students.
