NATURAL ARECA FIBER: SURFACE MODIFICATION AND SPECTRAL STUDIES

摘要: At present natural fibers are gaining tremendous progressive importance as renewable, light weight, strong, environmentally acceptable and biodegradable reinforcement material for composite preparation  automobile industry is currently shifting to “green” outlook, consumers looking friendly vehicles.  An important disadvantage of is  its polar nature which in turn results weak interfacial bonding between the matrix.  This leads inferior properties fiber reinforced polymer composites.  defect can be remedied by chemical modification because this will make become less hydrophilic thus it gives a  strong compatibility  matrix.   In research work, areca were subjected various treatments such mercerization, permanganate treatment, benzoylation, acrylation acetylation.  The structure  properties cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin pectin have been discussed.  Chemical reactions discussed FTIR SEM images untreated chemically treated analyzed.
