Effect of pinealectomy and melatonin on mammary tumor growth in sprague-dawley rats under different conditions of lighting

摘要: Stress modifies the neurohormonal balance of biogenic amines (catecholamines and indoleamines such as serotonin melatonin). An experimental approach for investigation possible role balances on tumor induction growth can be achieved by administration melatonin, pinealectomy or varying nycthemeral cycle lighting. In case mammary tumors induced in female Sprague-Dawley rats per os 7.12 DMBA, two important observations were made: carcinogenic compound alters levels pituitary serotonin, particularly at level intermediary lobe, melatonin seems to play a restricting development.
