摘要: The hydrothermal vent fluids at 9°50'N on the East Pacific Rise have undergone unprecedented chemical changes from 1991-2002. Cl contents of sampled varied by more than an order magnitude during this time period, and are accompanied profound in concentrations other species as well temperature. In study concentrations, conjunction with Si temperature data used to infer pressure conditions phase separation reaction within oceanic crust. model proposed suggests depth heat source driving system site these 12 years. My interpretation is that it has shoaled significantly since ∼2000. Although may not be unique, simplest one, containing least number assumptions consistent all data. If correct, its results provide finer resolution scales which possibly magmatic processes behave crust fast spreading ridges currently available sets. fluid chemistry combined records a sequence events shallow For most period studied, only chloride less seawater value were collected, creating mass balance problem for element. should tested future collection contemporaneous seismic
