摘要: Experimentally induced scoliosis was investigated in pinealectomized chickens using pathologic and neurophysiologic means. A total of 90 were tested; 30 served as a normal control, received an autografted pineal body the intramuscular tissue trunk, underwent pinealectomy without autograft. Scoliosis developed all within 2 weeks, showing gradual progression during next 5 or 6 weeks. At 3 months, three-dimensional spinal deformity consisted lateral curvature vertebral rotation, resulting prominent lordoscoliosis at thoracic level. In contrast, only 10% chickens. Histologic examination revealed no change brain either group nonscoliosis group. Cortical potentials delayed, thus suggesting conduction disturbance rostral to stem. Although relationship between cause effect is uncertain, these findings implicate neurotransmitters neurohormonal systems major contributing factor this type experimental scoliosis.
