Physical activity of first graders in Norwegian after-school programs: A relevant contribution to the development of motor competencies and learning of movements? Investigated utilizing a mixed methods approach.

摘要: Background Development of motor competencies and learning movements in children is dependent on varied physical activity (PA). After-school programs (ASP) might provide opportunities for young schoolchildren to participate PA. The aim the current study was investigate PA first graders ASP consider its contribution development movements. Methods The performed utilizing a mixed methods design. A total 42 were sampled from 14 ASPs Norway. Direct observations children’s activities conducted duration one entire day. intensity measured using ActiGraph accelerometers. Qualitative data analyzed qualitative content analysis, while Mann-Whitney U test Wilcoxon signed-rank used analyze quantitative data. Results median time among observed 61.5 minutes. stationary 75.9 There considerable variation within sample. Girls significantly more engaged behavior than boys. Frequent changes type typical features higher outdoors indoors. Adult-managed had longer periods child-managed time. at all levels contained barrier-breaking movements—especially light levels. Conclusion Most studied variety types different levels, favorable movements. Hence, it reasonable highlight that PA, combination with moderate vigorous also great importance during they spend ASP. Ultimately, there need staff members who can stimulate most children.
