摘要: Drops loaded in calcium ions detach from stalactites and impact the underlying stalagmites, thereby allowing these latter to grow through calcite precipitation. Nevertheless, little is known about influence of drop free fall splash dynamics on stalagmite shape width. Through high-speed imaging impacting drops stalagmites several caves, we observed that point position scattered, sometimes over centimetres. We show this dispersal has no external cause must, therefore, be self-induced. Using a Langevin-like equation, then propose prediction as function falling height travelled by drops. finally measured widths are correlated drop.
