摘要: A detailed study of the one-dimensional ionic Hubbard model with interaction $U$ is presented. We focus on band insulating (BI) phase and spontaneously dimerized (SDI) which appears increasing $U$. By a recently introduced continuous unitary transformation [H. Krull et al., Phys. Rev. B 86, 125113 (2012)] we are able to describe system even close transition from BI SDI although bare perturbative series diverges before reached. First, dispersion single fermionic quasiparticles determined in full Brillouin zone. Second, binding phenomena between two leading an $S=0$ $S=1$ exciton. The latter corresponds lowest spin excitation defines gap remains finite through SDI. former becomes soft at transition, indicating that condensate these excitons. This view confirmed by BCS mean-field theory for phase.
