摘要: The struggle for civil rights among Black Americans has moved into the voting booth. How such a shift came about - and what it means is revealed in this reflection on black presidential politics recent years. Since 1984, largely as result of Jesse Jackson's bid, blacks have been galvanized politically. Drawing substantial national survey voters, Katherine Tate shows how process manifested itself at polls 1984 1988. In an analysis vote by region, income, age, gender, she able to identify unique aspects experience they shape political behaviour, answer long-standing questions that behaviour. How, instance, does rise conservatism influence their patterns? Is class more powerful than race determining voting?
