摘要: Abstract Over 90 per cent of the more than 9000 residents Tecumseh, Michigan participated in a program comprehensive health examinations 1959–1960. Included examination were inquiries regarding rheumatic symptoms, physical spine and peripheral joints, latex fixation test for rheumatoid factor serum uric acid measurement. Joint pain or aching, joint swelling, morning stiffness, past arthritis rheumatism common complaints, occurring one-eighth to one-third population age 6 yr over. The age-sex specific prevalence rates each these historical items rose with increasing age. Male female quite similar during first four decades life, but thereafter somewhat higher. positive tests was essentially same male subjects, 3.4 males 3.35 females. progressively from approximately one 6–16 group almost 14 9.4 females oldest groups. performed poorly as case detection tool, only those respondents having any other evidence suggest diagnosis arthritis. Relatively high positively occurred individuals history jaundice infectious hepatitis emphysema right heart failure.
