摘要: Stromatoporoids were a subphylum of the Porifera whose soft parts can be reconstructed by comparisons with living sclerosponges Merlia and Astrosclera. The tissue was confined to upper surface penetrated only short distances into coenosteum. Astrorhizae are traces an excurrent water canal system that interfered secretion skeleton in some stromatoporoids but entirely above hard others. stromatoporoid composed trabecular or spherulitic aragonite. Calcitization dissolution aragonite proceeding from centers calcification outward account for microstructures (fibrous, compact, tripartite, ordinicellular, cellular, melanospheric) commonly observed calcite skeletons fossil stromatoporoids. Reconstructions showing proposed relationship Labechia, Stictostroma, Actinostroma Stromatopora presented.
