摘要: Abstract Air pollution in California's San Joaquin Valley (SJV) rivals that of the Los Angeles area and ranks among worst United States for particulate matter (PM) ozone. The application validation an atmospheric chemical transport model to SJV will aid design emissions control programs improve air quality. extensive data required meaningful Eulerian modeling airborne PM region were collected as a part 1995 Integrated Monitoring Study (IMS95). In current study, CIT-UCD source-oriented quality is applied IMS95 set verify performance SJV. This article represents first published full-scale photochemical grid with diagnostic meteorological simulate concentrations study outside include complete statistics. results show excellent agreement most measurements during 4–6 January 1996 episode. fractional bias (FBIAS) ozone 10 are approximately 0.16 −0.19, respectively, all stations excluding Bakersfield. Most modeled criteria gases, precursor chemically speciated strong their corresponding at Chowchilla, Fresno, Kern Wildlife Refuge, Bakersfield sampling stations. Furthermore, size distribution nitrate, ammonium ion, sulfate agree well cascade impactor made on 5 1996. Given robust both gas condensed phase measurements, it appears adequately captures fundamental reactivity pollutants domain typical severe These suggest can be used explore scenarios designed
