Computer friends and foes: Content of undergraduates' electronic mail

摘要: Abstract Less than half of undergraduates' electronic mail addressed work-related concerns. For the most part, served a purely social function, with over one fourth containing highly intimate content and unexpectedly little showing signs “flaming” or hostility inappropriateness. Students appeared to transmit largely encourage another academically personally. Content was systematically related periods within academic calendar. The frequently cited reason for failing use inability perceive practicality computer-mediated communication. Self-reported experiences varied minimally as function sex moderately grade point average in computer science courses.
