Population differences in the pigmentation of Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins, Sousa chinensis, in Chinese waters

摘要: Spotting pigmentation was compared amongst three putative populations of Sousa chinensis: eastern Taiwan Strait (ETS; ns31), Pearl River Estuary (PRE; ns188) and Jiulong (JRE; ns10). intensity on dorsal fins bodies each dolphin scored from 1 (least spotted) to 4 (most by nine independent subjects the means their scores were analysed using analysis variances (with post-hoc comparisons) multiple t-tests. Dorsal ETS dolphins more spotted when those PRE (p-0.0001) JRE (p-0.0001), but vs. not significantly different. These results show that are distinct apparently diagnosable populations.
