A possible causal relationship between iron deficiency, inhibition of DNA synthesis and reduction of meiotic recombination frequency in Neurospora crassa

摘要: Crosses of Neurospora crassa, segregating for the spore colour marker asco, were exposed at various stages prior to and during meiosis a chelating agent, paramagnetic salt classic inhibitor DNA synthesis, 2′-deoxyadenosine, respectively. The responses crosses in terms second division segregation asco studied. All three agents, when added two different periods, 24–36 hours about 120 after fertilization, respectively, caused significant decreases recombination frequency. first responsive periods probably coincides rather well with premeiotic interphase one pachytene. striking similarities patterns response treatments suggest that same underlying cellular function is affected all cases, i.e. synthesis.
