摘要: The Poxviridae family is a large of double-stranded DNA viruses that infects both vertebrates (Chordopoxvirinae) and invertebrates (Entomopoxvirinae). Chordopoxvirinae, which infect vertebrates, are subdivided into eight genera: Orthopoxvirus,Parapoxvirus, Avipoxvirus, Capripoxvirus, Leporipoxvirus, Suipoxvirus,Molluscipoxvirus, Yatapoxvirus. most famous member the variola virus, Orthopoxvirus genus causative agent smallpox disease (Smith McFadden 2002). Smallpox was eradicated from human population in 1977 through an aggressive vaccination program headed by World Health Organization. Vaccinia prototypic poxvirus belonging to genus, utilized still widely studied today. Aside only other naturally elicits humans Molluscum contagiosum virus (MCV), causes benign lesions on skin infected individuals (Epstein 1992). Other members cause wide range animals rodents birds primates. Notable include: ectromelia lethal mice; myxoma myxomatosis rabbits; swinepox virus; monkeypox fowlpox virus.
