摘要: Abstract Aerosol particles and gaseous species were measured in air masses transported to the west coast of Portugal, between November 1993 August 1994. Samples taken during four monitoring campaigns distributed along various seasons year, integrated EC Project: BMCAPE. collected with separation two size fractions analysed relation total mass, water soluble ions, trace elements black/organic carbon. Local micro-meteorological parameters mass backward trajectories compared analytical results order define characteristic types evaluate origin pollutants. Average concentrations on Portuguese coast, even maritime masses, are higher than values observed remote oceanic locations. This is probably a consequence continental European recirculation through eastern Atlantic Ocean, reinforced by situations mesoscale transport from Iberian Peninsula. Principal Component Analysis permitted identification five source groups for fine coarse aerosol fractions, namely combustion plus road traffic, sea salt spray, secondary production, soil possibly non-ferrous metallurgy industries. In fraction traffic contribute average 25% while spray production represent 14% 31%, respectively loading. Sea far major contributor an 88% suspended mass.
