Determining male sexual offender subtypes using cluster analysis

摘要: Although sexual offenders comprise a heterogeneous group, there are few subtyping schemes that simultaneously meaningful to clinicians and empirically validated. This investigation used cluster analysis derive subtypes of rapists child molesters using five dimensions: substance use, life management skills, antisocial behavior, aggression, offense-related impulsivity. Twelve were derived compared with described in the literature one rationally constructed typological system. Of nine considered clinically distinct meaningful, two manifested high four low three moderate aggression. The study determined distinctive, recognizable established some degree external descriptive validity for them. Content issues regarding as well several problems involved classification research discussed.
