摘要: A power-compensated bidirectional reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (Bi-ROADM) based on tunable fiber Bragg gratings is proposed and demonstrated. By splicing a grating (FBG) within piece of an erbium-doped fiber, lossless, low-cost, simply structured Bi-ROADM obtained. The total pumping power 40mW with 0.6m gain for both upstream downstream signals. performance evaluated using four-channel 50km lightwave transmission link 2.5Gbits/s bit rate per channel. Bit-error-rate (BER) performances show that the penalties are 0.49 0.76dB at 10−9 BER, respectively, 25km dropped channel passed-through as compared to back-to-back condition. An extra penalty only 0.2dB observed unidirectional case. Cross-talk issues chromatic dispersion also studied. induced by adjacent cross talk negligible (≦0.2dB) narrow spacing 1.0nm. intraband (homodyne) cross-talk level −30dB, corresponding 99.9% reflectivity FBG. may find important applications in WDM networks and/or transmission.
