摘要: It is proposed that for many if not most animals - both herbivore and carnivore, vertebrate invertebrate the single important factor limiting their abundance a relative shortage of nitrogenous food very young. Any component environment plant, by varying amount adequately nutritious plant tissue available to herbivores, may consequently affect through all subsequent trophic levels; in this regard weather be more often than immediately obvious. The hypothesis proposes live variably inadequate wherein are born but few survive, leads concept populations being "limited from below" rather "controlled above". And it lead reappraisal role predation, competition social territorial behaviour as factors likely influence numbers environment, response "pests" manipulation plants Man, effectiveness agents biological control.
