摘要: We summarise the main issues related to Community-Based Natural Resource Management which were discussed at an International Workshop organized in Niamey, Niger, March 2008. The objective of workshop was compare and contrast different development-oriented biodiversity conservation natural resource management approaches as they exist across Africa. These explored following (1) fundamentals relation local development livelihoods (2) multi-functional nature land use. major topics subject debate dichotomy between strictly protected areas including human activities; importance legitimate, people-centred conservation, opposed legal (drawn from law) conservation; key role market instruments, participatory approaches, interdisciplinarity governance; finally strong relationships agriculture especially landscape level. then provide a short summary 12 papers addressing above selected for Special Issue Biodiversity Conservation on “Natural Local Development” (Vol xx, No 2009).
